Eternal Princess

Kaguya's backstory and character both come from "the Tale of the Bamboo Cutter", just a bit different than the original. In the Touhou Project, she comes from the Moon, and is considered a sinner for drinking the Hourai Elixir, which grants immortality to the person.After that, she gets exiled to Earth as a punishment. Thus, this is were the famous tale starts. She gets found inside a piece of bamboo by a bamboo cutter, in which both him and the wife took care of her. News of her beauty began to spread throughout the region, attracting even generals among the common people. She asked each one of them to complete five impossible requests in order to ask Kaguya's hand for marriage, causing even discomfort among Mokou's family. As time went on, she was later given the possibility to return to the Moon, but she refused the offer and began to live her life on Earth (specifically Gensokyo) with Eirin, an ex-lunarian emissary which was sent in. In the end, both Tewi and Reisen joined the crew too, finally residing in Eientei, built inside the Bamboo Forest of the Lost.

Why do i like Kaguya?

Her design is beautiful and elegant!! Just like a Princess would be. Her theme is something completely mind blowing the first time you listen to it (even her MIDI version is not bad, though i prefer the WAW one as it has.. more "instruments??"), the spell cards she uses (which theyre based on the five impossible requests) are aesthetically beautiful to me (my favourite is Jeweled Branch of Hourai and Buddhist Diamond), but very difficult to complete especially on higher difficulties..Many hate her for what she did to Mokou, but i really dont think she hated her in the first place too! (She also left the elixir as a gift for an Emperor which was about to get thrown inside Mt. Fuji, but as soon as Mokou killed Iwakasa she drank it and became what she is now).. in other words, the Mokou we see now wouldn't have existed thanks to Kaguya.
